Welcome

Water is critical to all aspects of our lives and it is important that we ensure there is a safe and reliable source of water for all our uses - now and in the future. Drinking Water Source Protection (SP) is a resource planning process that aims to keep sources of drinking water safe and usable.

The Clean Water Act, 2006, came into effect in July 2007 and requires Source Protection Plans to be developed for watersheds in Ontario. Regulations also set out requirements for the Source Protection Committee and give timelines for the preparation of the terms of reference and Assessment Report. Links to the Clean Water Act and regulations are on the E-laws website.

The Source Protection Committee is overseeing the process of developing a Terms of Reference, Assessment Report and Source Protection Plan. Technical work is currently underway by a team of Source Protection staff.

The Saugeen, Grey Sauble, Northern Bruce Peninsula Source Protection Region is comprised of three Source Protection Areas (SPA): Saugeen Valley SPA; Grey Sauble SPA; and Northern Bruce Peninsula SPA.
